My Story...

Here are some of your stories!

As the parents of a young daughter (15) with a tremendous love of music, it is difficult to find places for her to listen to music in positive surroundings. We found CafeJam to be the perfect answer to that need. As a youth of great faith, she is always looking for ways to bring others to Christ. Many of her friends find the church intimidating, but were open to go somewhere (even Christian based) to hear good music. She has brought several friends to Cafejam and even though they do not consider themselves Christians, they enjoyed the atmosphere and the music. I wish every town had such a place for youth to go to on the weekends. I sincerely feel it is a sanctuary for Christian youth as well as a place seekers will go and hopefully find the positive message found there a better path.

I first attended Cafejam in Feb of 2001 to see Disciple in Concert. There are a countless number of ways that cafejam has blessed me. I am honored to count several of the staff as my friends along with several of the bands that have played there.

On January 2nd 2002 my girlfriend broke up with me. I had been dating her for 2 years and week and had plans on marrying her. I came home for work and she was waiting for me at my house which at first I thought exciting as I didn’t think I would see her that day. Instead she tells me things were not working out. After a few awkward minutes she left
and went back home.

I went thru a range of emotions all at one time, anger, fear, and depression. I didn’t know why God was doing this or what purpose that it served. That night I found myself having to stay in a hotel for work. That night I found the temptations started as I was being hit on by attractive females and the only place to get something to eat was in the hotel bar.

The end of the month I found myself at Cafejam for a My Existence concert. For the first time since the break up I was smiling and enjoying myself. My troubles were miles away from me. The lyrics of every song were like they were written just for me in that very moment. The next morning at church when I would see my ex I would start singing the songs I had heard the night before and be more encouraged.

For the rest of that year I attended about 1-2 concerts a month at cafejam. I got to know Jay L, Pastor T, David, Shelley, Brad, and Joy. I also got know Chris & Nugget from the 7 Method and Jen & Newkirk from Signet. That October after my gallbladder surgery I received a get well card signed by The 7 Method, Justified and several of the Cafejam staff.

At the end of the year I got back together with my girlfriend and now she is my fiancée. We are getting married July 9th 2005. Had there not been a cafejam to go to on the weekends I’m not sure what I would have done. I thank God that Cafejam was there at that crucial point in my life and kept encouraging me to seek first HIS Kingdom and HIS righteousness. Matt 6:33

Much love to Cafejam!

My experience at Café Jam was on a Hip Hop night! I have always longed to have a Christian club ever since I  was in college and had no alternative to secular clubs.

After organizing Gospel Jams, etc. I found that one could have just as much fun if not more in this time of environment. So, I thought my prayers were completely answered...until I experienced that night at Café Jam!!!!

I had not seen a Christian club so magnificent from the entrance to the close, the groups, lighting, little children, "big" children, music, dancing, etc. There was such a freedom in that place that I wanted to just say thank you for allowing God to bring out that vision in you all!!! I know that it is still blessing others until this day! I had the best time ever and look forward to coming backsoon!

God bless and thank you!

First off I want to say Cafe Jam is like a second home to me. I am always so excited when a big show comes up and I am able to go. Everyone there, especially the staff are just the most awesome people you'll ever meet. I made it to quite a few major shows through 2004, my first show I ever went to was the January Judah First/ Disciple show. I was kinda shy that day and didnt get much out of the message that kevin Young spoke, but when I came back for the march fundamentals of rock tour, i just felt God move. Kevin gave an altar call, and it was that spot I rededicated my life to Jesus Christ. Ever since that moment my relationship with God has been running hot and i'm just so excited to be closer to God than I have ever been. I made it out to all the Disciple shows, and some other big shows like the Rise of the Robots Tour, the TFK/ Fm Static/ Zeteo show (which TFK's bus got stuck in the parking lot due to all the snow and I made it home safely despite living like 45 minutes away thanks to God!), the 7 Method/Delorean show (where i won the costume contest as a jedi knight the day before halloween), and several other Zeteo shows. Each show I went to was a memorable experience for which I would talk about for weeks, and some for months after the show was said and done.

Also fellowship with fellow regular attenders of cafe jam and the bands that play there is just something I look forward to when i know I'm going. Its not just a venue, its like a second home. You've also got people from different walks of life worshipping together and just having a good time. There's no discomfort when you go to shows. You can come just the way you are and have an awesome time. I look forward for the day cafe jam returns! Everyday i'm not there bugs me. Its been since December 11 and it feels like an eternity ago. I cant wait to be back rocking out with the bands, the fans, and the neck ache that comes from all that headbanging at cafe jam!
